The Little Valley Animal Shelter is owned by the Exeter, East & West Devon Branch of the RSPCA and is situated on the outskirts of Exeter surrounded by 21 acres of unspoiled countryside. The Shelter was built in July 1991 to care for unwanted, abandoned and cruelly treated animals. It can accommodate dogs, cats, horses, goats and a variety of domestic animals such as rabbits, rodents and aviary birds. It also has a rehabilitation unit for orphaned or injured hedgehogs.

The work of the Shelter is administered by a committee of volunteer trustees of the Branch which is independent from the national RSPCA. To view the national RSPCA website click here. We aim to help the less fortunate animals of Exeter, East & West Devon, and rely on donations and fund-raising events to finance the running costs of £9,000 per week.

RSPCA Triathlon

On Tuesday 10th August 2010 staff at the RSPCA Little Valley Animal Shelter completed a triathlon to raise money toward a cat chalet /meeting room.

We currently have nowhere for cats to spend time away from their pens, or for prospective owners to meet a new cat.

Animal Care Assistant (ACA) Clare Pidgeon first swam 100 lengths of Exmouth Swimming Pool.  Then ACA Bronwen Hill ran 10km from Exmouth to Topsham. Finally several staff cycled 10 miles from Topsham back to Little Valley.
