This is a selection of some of the dogs
available for adoption. If you are interested in one of these dogs please
telephone the Shelter first on 01392 439898 to check it is still available,
and to find out more information. When calling, please inform us if
there are any changes expected in your personal circumstances (moving
house, going on holiday etc) so we can discuss your situation in more
detail.
Instead of public walking into the kennel blocks and looking
at the dogs through the kennel bars, public now see pictures of all the
dogs available in reception with full history details. We will talk
to any prospective owners about the dogs that might be suitable and
the dog will then be brought down to meet them. This system ensures better matching of dog to owner and has proved to be less stressful for the dogs. Once you have chosen a dog, we will ask family members to meet twice before you have your home visit.
Please note; the Shelter does not rehome dogs to families where there are children under the age of 5.

Bindy |
Lexus(Reserved) |
| |
 |
|
| |
Please don't be put off by her breed, Bindy is a fantastic example of a Rottweiler. She has been sociable with both cats and dogs and although a little timid of new people she loves nothing more than a cuddle! once settled in a home she will make a very rewarding companion. She should be fine with older children. unwanted, she came in pregnant and was a fantastic mum to 8 puppies. They have all found homes, now it is Bindy's time. She is in good hleath but has ahave a degree of dysplasia in her hips but does not need any treatment. |
2 1/2 yr old Shepherd X Lurcher Lexus is a super girl, who is desperate to find a new home and get out of kennels. She is extremely friendly (sometimes a little too friendly) loves people, playful and friendly with other dogs. Her character is quite shepherdy, so to someone who likes their Shepherds, she will be a real find. Any children in the home should be 13 or over, probably best without cats in the home, but other dogs will be fine. |

Ronnie(Reserved) |
Otis (Rehomed) |
| |
 |
|
| |
Ronnie has a super temperament – she is a happy, friendly and an extremely active girl. She is looking for a new home who will give her lots of varied exercise. She will be superb for agility so we would be extra keen if an agility home came forward. She loves her toys, is very bright and has masses of energy. Ronnie will make a fantastic, lifelong companion for an active person. She is 8 months old and came to us when her owner had to move and couldn't take her. She could live with another dogs (and possibly cats) and children over 10 years. she may be OK with children slightly younger if they are calm. |
Otis is just 1 year old and he has been with us for over 2 months now, which doesn't make sense as he's such a super dog. Prospective owners have definitely been put off by his breed which is such a shame, as Otis is one Staffie that you can be proud to own. He is an exuberant boy with a little mischievous side that will make owning him a real pleasure. If you've had staffie's before and enjoy their cheeky personalities, then Otis is definitely the dog for you. Due to a miserable past, he is a sensitive boy who appreciates the finer things in life! So please don't be put off, Otis is a staffie that is very deserving of a calm, active and loving home. Any children in the home should be 13 or over, he is fine with other dogs, but no cats please. |

Caz |
Bruno |
| |
 |
|
| |
3 year old Staffie X female Caz is our little miniature mastiff!!! still big enough, yet a sensitive girl, looking for an owner who has some experience. She will need time to settle in to allow her personality to come out, as she can be quite shy and worried about new things. So, an active, yet calm, settled home would be ideal. Any children in the home should be 10 or over and Caz is happy with them, she would be fine with a calm, social dog, but no cats. |
Bruno is a 10 month old x breed who came to us as his owner was having to leave all day. He could live with older teenagers and could live with another dog but probably not a cat. He is quite a big boy with a big personality. bruno is a super dog and a real character. he would benefit from an owner experienced with big breeds as he can be a little strong. His new owner will need plenty of space as Bruno's tail has a mind of its own!! so ornaments will need to be kept safe! he needs plenty of exercise. A fantastic dog. |

Peggy-Sue |
Todd |
| |
|
|
| |
1 year old female x breed Peggy-Sue is a very special girl, looking for a very special adult only home. She has been through so much in her little life, so as a consequence needs a committed owner who will give her the time and understanding to settle in and develop some confidence. She would benefit from an existing settled dog in the home, will need plenty of exercise, but needing a relatively quiet household, and would need assessment to live with a cat. |
Sadly Todd, a Collie x GSD, has ended up back at the Shelter after 11 years in his last home due to his owners illness. He is now a 13 year old boy but please don't let that put you off. He is gentle and affectionate and desperate to find a loving home for his twilight years. He is not asking for much in his new home, just some gentle exercise and some home comforts, in return you will have a loyal and loving companion. It needs to be an adult/teenager only home (no young children), no cats or other dogs.

Benji |
Jack |
| |
|
 |
| |
Thought to be between 6 and 10 years old, Westie boy Benji is looking for an adult only home with some experience of terriers. He would be happiest as the only dog in a quiet household. He's a happy little chap, but does get worried by certain things. He likes his walks, loves playing with his toys, but can be quite a little character! We would say that some training would be advisable |
Jack is an extremely bright and outdoorsy young lad. He would very much suit an owner who he can be out and about with for most of the day, with horses or other dogs. He is a typical active terrier, very friendly and is now desperate to find himself a new home as kennels isn’t the place for him. A super dog with good recall! He is 2 years old and came in from an inspector when his previous owner was unable to cope with him. He could live with another dog but not cats and any children in the home should be teenagers. |

Penny |
Evie |
| |
 |
|
| |
At nearly 2 years old Penny has not had a good start in life, due to this she has had very little experience of the outside world and finds day to day things quite scary. Despite this she has proved to be a very friendly, loving dog who enjoys mixing with her doggy friends, therefore a settled dog in the home already would be beneficial to her, but most importantly a calm home where she can have gentle introduction to everyday life. She will make a fantastic and loyal companion. |
A REAL CUTIE!
12 week old Springer X SBT female Evie is a typical lively pup. She would love to live with an existing dog, who can be her palymate and show her the ropes! We woud love her to go to a family who understand the importnace of socialisation and training.
She can live with calm children as young as 5, and a confident cat would be fine, as would another dog. Lots of exercise and training will be essential!

Fern |
Charlie |
| |
|
 |
| |
10 month old Lurcher Fern is a fantastic girl who hasn't had the best start in life - having been living in unsuitable conditions. This means she has had little experience of the real world. Despite this she is a very friendly, affectionate girl, who really enjoys playing with her doggy friends. A nice, settled dog in the home already would definitely benefit her, but most importantly, a calm home with understanding owners who can gently introduce her to everyday life. She will make a very loving and loyal companion. Any children in the home should be 13 or over, and assessment would be required for cats. Be prepared for lots of walks and exercise! |
3 year old Charlie is an absolute poppet! She is a sensitive little girl, who is eager to find a new owner so she can get out of kennels. She needs an active, yet calm home so she can settle in without being too worried. She loves going on our agility course so would love to continue this in her new home, though it is not essential. An absolute darling!!! Because she is a little timid any children in the home should be 13 or over, an easy going, sociable dog may be fine, and she could be tried with a cat, but would probably be best without. |

Nola (Reserved) |
|
| |
 |
|
| |
Nola is a happy settle little dog who will make a fantastic companion. She has proved to be very sociable with both people and dogs and is looking for a calm but active home with varied walks but lots of cuddles. She is about 6 years old (possibly a bit older?) and could live with children if calm and sensible. She may be able to live with a cats and would be fine with another dog. |
