Once you've visited the Shelter and seen an animal you like we will tell
you more about him/her and then ask you to fill in a questionnaire. If your
circumstances are suitable for the animal we will put a 'reserved' sticker
on its pen for you and ask that all family members come to meet the animal.
Once this is done we will pass your details to the homecheck coordinator,
who will find a local homevisitor to visit you to talk about taking on a new
pet.

If adopting a dog we need you to have a suitably sized secure garden and have human company for the dog (at least part of the day). Please note that we do not generally rehome where there are children under 5 yrs old in the household.
The homevisitor will not tell you if you have been cleared to adopt the animal - you will receive a phone call from the Shelter shortly after to let you know the outcome. If successful, we will then make arrangements for you to pick up your new pet - this will often be the following day.
A follow up visit is made after you have adopted your new pet to ensure all is well and the Shelter is always at the end of the 'phone to offer advice and support.
